Find by concern
Same concern, different cause, different answer. We start by finding the cause.
- Pores
Enlarged pores
Pores look big for three different reasons, and the fix is different for each. Fine hair, lost elasticity and excess oil all look the same in the mirror.
- Acne
Acne
Acne is not one thing. Dry, barrier-damaged skin breaks out for different reasons than oily skin does, and the same routine can make one better and the other worse.
- Scars
Acne scars and other scars
Scars are a shape problem first and a color problem second. A dented boxcar scar, a narrow icepick, a raised keloid and a red mark each need a different tool.
- Pigmentation
Pigmentation: freckles, sun spots and melasma
Brown spots look alike on the surface but sit at different depths. Freckles and sun spots are shallow; melasma is deep; post-acne marks are often both. Depth decides the wavelength.
- Smile lines
Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
The fold beside your nose can come from lost volume, muscle pull, sagging or fat weight, and usually more than one at once. Filling every fold the same way is how faces end up looking heavy.
- Dark circles
Dark circles
Dark circles come in four kinds: vessels showing through thin skin, brown pigment, a hollow that casts a shadow, and a fat bulge that casts one. Concealer hides all four. Treatment does not.
- Lifting
Sagging and loss of firmness
Sagging happens in layers: the surface skin, the dermis, the SMAS layer under it, and fat that has dropped. Each layer has its own tool, and most faces need more than one.
- Double chin
Double chin and jawline
A soft jawline can be fat, loose skin, jaw muscle, a short chin or enlarged salivary glands. Some need reducing, some need tightening, and one needs neither.
- Wrinkles
Wrinkles
Lines that appear only when you move are a muscle issue. Lines that stay when your face is still are a skin or volume issue. Treating them the same way is the most common wrinkle mistake.
- Redness
Redness and sensitive skin
A red face can be dilated vessels, leftover inflammation, a damaged barrier, or a condition like rosacea. The first three we treat differently. The last one gets a doctor's call before anything else.
- Skin texture
Rough texture, dryness and dull tone
Skin that looks rough or dull is usually one of four things: dead-skin build-up, dehydration, early fine lines, or uneven tone. Each shows up differently right after you wash your face.
- Dryness
Dry, tight skin
If your skin feels tight again an hour after moisturiser, the question is whether it is short of water or just cannot hold on to it. The answer is different for a damaged barrier, dehydration, thinning skin and daily habits.
- Hair removal
Laser hair removal
Hair removal is a wavelength question. Fine, shallow hair and coarse, deep hair need different lasers, and the area of the body changes the plan.
Results vary from person to person. A doctor decides on treatment after examining you, and nothing on this page is a promise of outcome.
